With the goal of building cool stuff, Ralph Cope co-founded Accudyne Systems, Inc. in 1996. Although the major focus was, and is, building equipment to produce the next generation of commercial aircraft, it has always taken on unique and unusual challenges. One of these came in 2012, when a request came to produce a large area, body weight support system for children in the Early Learning Center at the University of Delaware. Ultimately, a system was installed which allows a child to move freely anywhere in half of a gymnasium, while providing a constant upward body weight support. Accudyne followed the university project with the installation of a network of fall restraint rails throughout the University of Delaware's stat-of-the-art physical therapy center, STAR Campus. Both systems satisfied the needs of the institutional customer, but Steve Cope (an Accudyne engineer and Ralph's brother) and Steve's wife wondered if something could be built which would help a homeowner with similar needs. Steve and Ralph began working on such a system, and soon they had both a portable design for kids and a customizable unit which can be made to fit any room and support any weight range.
With the harness systems diverging from the core of Accudyne Systems, Inc., Ralph and Steve spun off the business in 2014 to form Enliten LLC. We focus on cost effective systems, which allow users to move freely in an area, while providing fall protection and body weight support. The revolutionary approach for area support was awarded a patent in 2015. The systems have matured rapidly, and we now produce a range of support equipment for both institutional and home use. Our company has installed systems in almost all of the YMCAs in Delaware to provide a safe inclusive environment for all of their clients. Most recently, we installed systems at a new school in Kansas City, which allows 27 users at one time. This installation provides safe support for children, while allowing them to move freely over 3000 square feet. Enliten has also supplied systems to a variety of universities, institutions, and personal users around the world. We continue to expand and grow our product line to allow users to move freely in the world, without the fear of falling.
